The Burgkino in Vienna's 1st district was founded as early as 1912. In 1914 it already had a capacity for 370 people. From 1930, sound films were played in this cinema. It owes its name to its immediate proximity to the Burgtheater. Today it is a modern equipped cinema. The Burgkino mainly shows the latest blockbusters.

The Cinecenter in Vienna's 1st district looks back on an eventful 40-year history. When the cinema opened, it was one of the first multi-screen cinemas in Vienna with its 4 halls. ENGLISH CINEMA HAYDN

The English Cinema Haydn was opened in 1912. The peculiarity of the cinema is that it shows only films in the original English version. FILMCASINO

The Filcasino in Margareten shows films mostly in original languages with subtitles. The program of the cinema can be found on its website. The Filmcasino opened already in 1911 in Margaretenstraße. At that time it was still a cinematograph theater, which showed films until 1919. Later it was renamed to Margaretner Bürgerkino. The cinema is definitely worth a visit.

GARDENBAUKINO
Parkring 12, 1010 Vienna
The Gartenbaukino, on Vienna's Ringstrasse, opened as early as 1919. After being destroyed in World War 2, it was rebuilt on the same site in 1960. The Gartenbaukino is one of the oldest cinemas in Vienna and one of the last single-screen cinemas still in operation in the city. Today, the popular premiere cinema is the main venue of the Viennale film festival.

LUGNER CINEMA
Gablenzgasse 3, 1150 Vienna

METRO CINEMA CULTURE HOUSE
Johannesgasse 4, 1010 Vienna
From 1840, the Elysium entertainment venue was located in Johannagasse in Vienna's 1st district. During the Second World War it was operated as a comedy theater called Komödie. Since 1951, the Metro cinema has been located in the building. In 2002 it was taken over and renovated by the Filmarchiv Austria. Today, the Kino Kultur Haus is still a popular destination.
