Vienna's new museum for modern art will open in 2020 in the newly renovated Künstlerhaus on Karlsplatz: Albertina Modern. Spanning 2,500m2, this new museum treats visitors to a collection of over 5000 contemporary artists. With a collection of over 60,000 works, the Albertina Modern represents one of the largest contemporary museums of modern and contemporary art.
At the Albertina Modern, you'll enter Austria's newest art hot spot. Because the most important masterpieces since 1945 are represented here. Dare to immerse yourself in a world of modern, postmodern and contemporary art. You'll find well-known works by Austrian artistic greats such as Hermann Nitsch or Valie Export and Maria Lassnig. Of course, names like Hundertwasser, Helnwein and Attersee are also represented.

But the international scene is not neglected in the Albertina modern. Here you can marvel at renowned representatives of the Pop Art genre just a few minutes' walk from the Albertina. Roy Liechtenstein, Any Warhol, Anselm Kiefer and Damien Hirst characterize the brilliant ambience of the Albertina modern.
The museum is based on two comprehensive art collections that are on permanent loan to the Albertina. The Essl Collection focuses on art from Austria from the post-war years to the present day. Thus, this collection illustrates the most recent trends in Austrian art history such as Fantastic Realism, Viennese Actionism Postmodernism and Contemporary Art. Also in an international context, this museum is a paradise for fans of modern art.
In the process, the magnificent building from the Wilhelminian period in the 19th century provides a magnificent setting, while shining anew in its former glory!
