Danube Park
DONAUPARK
In the Donaustadt district, on the other side of the Danube, you will find the spacious Donaupark. As high as the Danube Tower located in the park is, as versatile is the park surrounding it. This garden area was designed on the occasion of the International Garden Show of 1964 and houses, among other things, the 30,000-square-meter Donaupark-Irissee.
The Irissee now has a diverse flora and fauna and offers many possibilities of nesting sites. Material extracted from this lake, forms the substance of the coffee house hill in the Donaupark, which has not housed a coffee house since the 80s. The large meadows, Butterfly Meadow and Pope Meadow, are suitable for sports events and other events.
But on a tour of the park you will also discover the magnificent rose gardens, the various allotments and several playgrounds. A tennis court and a miniature golf course are also available.
And if you need refreshments, there are the two restaurants in the dizzy heights of the Danube Tower, or a Chinese restaurant at the exit to the U1 station "Alte Donau".
