Kahlenberg
KAHLENBERG
As Vienna's local mountain, the Kahlenberg is a popular sight and excursion destination, for the local population and tourists alike. Located in the district of Döbling, it represents a 484 meter high elevation of the Vienna Woods. As such, the Kahlenberg provides heavenly views over the whole of Vienna and even as far as the Little Carpathians of Slovakia.
The Kahlenberg was first cultivated in the 17th century, when Ferdinand II had the church of St. Josef built on the high plateau, around which the Josefsdorf was later built. Today you can explore the Kahlenberg via numerous hiking trails. For example, you can reach the Stefaniewarte at the highest point of the mountain.

Forest Rope Park Kahlenberg
Another highlight for young and old is the legendary forest rope park at Kahlenberg. Here you can swing like Tarzan over the treetops and thus experience a walk of a special kind in the Vienna Woods. And there are many different route options, which are marked according to the degree of difficulty. With a breathtaking view, you can see Vienna from a completely new perspective here.
Food and drink
And if your stomach is rumbling after the flight of fancy, we advise a visit to the adjacent Josefinenhütte. Here you are guaranteed to get your money's worth in culinary terms as well.
On the other hand, one or the other Heuriger at the foot of the Kahlenberg attracts with seasonal, local food and drinks, as well as with a "urgemütlichen" and authentically Viennese atmosphere!
