Hermes Villa

HERMESVILLA

The Hermes Villa in the Lainzer Tiergarten is open to visitors all year round as the Wien Museum. The eponymous statue of Hermes in the garden of this late romantic palace also welcomes visitors.

The same was planned by Emperor Franz Joseph when he had the Hermes Villa built for his travel-loving wife Sissi in 1882-1886. The architect Carl von Hasenauer did his best to bring out the unique charm of the villa as you can enjoy it today.

Other artists such as Gustav Klimt and Franz Matsch also contributed to the design of the imperial private rooms. And the magnificent bed for the empress, which dates back to the times of Maria Theresa, was also intended to ensure that the Hermes Villa would become Sissi's "castle of dreams.

Today, you are also invited to take in the generous furnishings. During a tour of the exhibition in the Hermes Villa, you will also learn all there is to know about the history of the house and its inhabitants.

And to perfect the imperial living experience, you can then dine at the Hermes restaurant. This gastronomic oasis scores especially with Viennese cuisine and exquisite game dishes.
