WestLight & EastLight
PHOTO EXHIBITIONS IN THE WEST AND EAST LIGHT
OstLicht Galerie and Fotomuseum WestLicht are Vienna's mecca for photo aficionados.
In Westbahnstraße, in Vienna's hip 7th district, the WestLicht photo museum displays unique photographs alongside the most valuable historical photo cameras. Among the significant apparatus, there are, for example, spy cameras in cigarette packets, which were used by the KGB. But even a camera from space is on display. For in the WestLicht Museum you can marvel at one of the cameras taken on the Apollo moon mission. In addition, there are numerous cameras for underwater photography, built-in models for walking sticks or toy cameras.

Among the numerous photography exhibitions, the "World Press Photo Show" is the absolute highlight of the year. Here you can marvel at the best press photos that have been published worldwide.
As a counterpart to WestLicht, Galerie OstLicht was added in June 2012, housed in a former anchor bread factory on Absberggasse in the 10th district. Here you get to see fascinating works by contemporary "shooting stars." These are changing group exhibitions in an ambience characterized by the charming industrial design of the old bread factory.
The associated library with 20,000 books and magazines also invites you to spend a relaxing afternoon. Afterwards, you can round off your day at the hotel's own bar.
