The use of the island as a beach bath began as early as 1900, and then in 1907 the "Strandbad der Commune Wien am Gänsehäufel" was opened here. After its complete destruction during the Second World War, the bath was reopened in 1950.

Today, the Gänsehäufel is the most visited outdoor pool in Vienna! Because here there are really countless opportunities to escape from everyday stress on sunny days.

The island has several beaches, which are divided for different target groups. There is the west beach of which a part is the children's beach. Then there is the south beach and the east beach, which also has a closed off nudist area.

Inside the island there are also various swimming pools. Here you will find a multipurpose pool, a wave pool, a toddler pool with a water slide and a water play garden. All around there is a parent-child area and relaxing sunbathing.

But in the Gänsehäufel you can also engage in many kinds of sports! Besides soccer, beach volleyball and basketball, there is also mini golf and table tennis. There are also tennis courts. Furthermore, there is a fitness station with gymnastics equipment. A special attraction is also the high rope climbing garden at the Gänsehäufel! And for the little ones there is an air castle!
