In the historic café confectionery, visitors also get a unique look behind the scenes. Those who are interested can penetrate right into the bakery to get to the bottom of the heavenly machinations of the pastry chefs. Perhaps one or the other will also come across the legendary question of the original recipe for the famous Sacher cake. There are two of them. One is prepared and served at Demel, the other at Café Sacher, at the other end of the city center.

Both plead to produce the original Sachertorte, but the true story and how it came to the two versions of the original Sachertorte, you learn only from the staff.

Incidentally, the employees of Hofzuckerbäckerei Demel have been only women for 200 years. As always, the Demel women address their customers only in the third person with the polite inquiry "Have you already chosen?
