Klimt Villa
CLIMATE VILLA
The Klimt Villa is the jewel of the beautiful Viennese district of Hietzing. For it was here that Gustav Klimt spent the last years of his life and creative work until his death in 1918. The original one-story garden cottage was built over in the 1920s with an impressive villa. But the studio inside the beautiful villa is thus excellently preserved and conserved.
Visitors are offered a unique insight into Klimt's last Viennese studio in the Klimt Villa. Here you can truly recreate the atmosphere of Klimt's life and work.
And it starts in the reception room, which was reconstructed absolutely authentically. Then you will open the premises of the studio, which could be recreated on the basis of photographs by Moritz Nähr.

But the tour also reveals the comings and goings in these rooms. Who were Klimt's visitors, customers and models during this last creative phase of his life? Information about this and contemporary testimonies in the exhibition rooms.
But the main focus of the Soner exhibition in the Klimt Villa is devoted to the disappeared art of the world-famous painter. Questions around looted art, stolen artworks put the lost Klimts in the center. The theme is deepened and broadened by stories of collectors, victims and perpetrators.
The 6000 m² garden is also worth a visit. Because the green part of the house literally bubbles with artistic inspiration.
