Overall, the display collections relate to international stage art, dance and film, spoken theater and musicals, as well as puppet theater. The latter is also represented by the impressive Art Nouveau rod puppets by Richard Teschner, which are considered a highlight of the museum.
The holdings from the Baroque period also represent the beginnings of the Theater Museum, which goes back to a theater collection of the Austrian National Library.

But also music sounds in this museum at the highest level. For in the so-called "Eroica Hall" in the museum, top-class concerts take place. This concert hall is named after Beethoven's third symphony "Eroica", which he dedicated to his patron Prince Lobkowitz, who was also the owner of the palace.
Another "treat" at the Theater Museum is the temporary exhibition of the Picture Gallery of the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. As the Academy is undergoing renovation work, the Picture Gallery is expected to be on display at the Theatermuseum until the end of 2020!
