Natural History Museum Vienna

The Natural History Museum Vienna stands directly opposite the Kunsthistorisches Museum and mirrors it architecturally. Its extensive collections explore the history of the Earth, evolution, anthropology and the natural world.

One of the museum’s best-known objects is the Venus of Willendorf, an approximately 29,500-year-old prehistoric figurine measuring around 11 centimetres in height.

In the anthropology galleries, visitors can explore human evolution through interactive displays and scientific exhibits.

The mineral and gemstone collections are another highlight and include exceptional historic objects as well as an enormous topaz weighing more than 100 kilograms.

The museum also offers rooftop experiences that provide impressive views over Vienna’s historic centre and Ringstrasse.
