House of Music on Seilerstätte in Vienna’s 1st district is an interactive museum dedicated to sound and music. In a city famous for its musical history, the museum offers visitors an entertaining way to explore how music works and how we experience sound.
Located in the former palace of Archduke Charles, the museum takes visitors on a journey from classical music to contemporary and experimental sound across several floors.
Interactive installations allow visitors not only to hear music but also to see, feel and experiment with sound.
Visitors can try composing music themselves or step into the role of a conductor. Interactive exhibits make it possible to create a personal waltz and experiment playfully with musical structures.
Other installations explore Mozart and the world of Viennese classical music in imaginative and interactive ways.

Vienna Philharmonic Museum
The House of Music also includes a section dedicated to the history of the Vienna Philharmonic. The building was once home to Otto Nicolai, founder and first principal conductor of the orchestra. Historic documents, photographs, conducting batons and other objects tell the story of this internationally renowned Viennese institution.
