Sigmund Freud Museum

The Sigmund Freud Museum is located in Freud’s former home and practice at Berggasse 19 in Vienna’s 9th district. The founder of psychoanalysis lived and worked here until 1938, when he was forced to flee Nazi persecution and went into exile in Great Britain.

His youngest daughter, Anna Freud, personally contributed to preserving and presenting the former living and consultation rooms associated with Sigmund Freud.

The museum presents original furnishings, objects from Freud’s private collection of antiquities and early editions of his works. Historical films, photographs and manuscripts also provide insights into Freud’s life and his Austrian-Jewish environment.

The exhibitions also explore the origins and development of psychoanalysis and its international influence.
