The Theatre Museum at Lobkowitzplatz invites visitors to explore more than 300 years of theatre and performing arts. Its extensive holdings include over a thousand stage models as well as drawings, prints and photographs documenting productions and theatrical history.
Collections of costumes, props and other objects provide further insights into the world of theatre. The museum covers a wide range of performing arts, including drama, dance, film, musicals and puppetry. Younger visitors can also discover the world of the stage through dedicated educational activities.
A particular highlight is the collection of Art Nouveau rod puppets created by Richard Teschner. The museum’s historic holdings also have roots in the theatre collection of the Austrian National Library.
The historic Palais Lobkowitz also contains the Eroica Hall, named after Beethoven’s Third Symphony, which was dedicated to his patron Prince Lobkowitz. Concerts and cultural events regularly make use of this impressive setting.
