Café Goldegg on Argentinierstraße is an insider tip in Vienna’s 4th district. Designed in an Art Nouveau style, it belongs to the old school of Viennese coffeehouses. Elegant wall panelling, well-kept billiard tables, green upholstered furniture, parquet floors and impressive chandeliers create its distinctive historic atmosphere.
With such a characteristic interior, Café Goldegg has occasionally been used as a film location. Despite its traditional setting, the menu also offers a number of more contemporary dishes. Alongside sausages, goulash and toast, guests can find Ayurvedic vegetables, sweet potatoes with hummus and burgers.
The café is also known for its generous breakfast selection, which is available throughout the day. In addition to a traditional Viennese breakfast, there are several other options, including the “Goldegg Spezial” with ham and cheese, a hot drink, freshly pressed juice, pastries, jam and a glass of Prosecco.
Originally known as Café Dobner, the coffeehouse was a popular meeting place for railway workers after opening in 1910. Today, it is equally appreciated by visitors to Vienna.
