Kleines Café

Kleines Café is tucked away on a corner of Franziskanerplatz in Vienna’s historic 1st district. As its name suggests, the café is genuinely small, but that has never stopped it from becoming one of the city’s best-loved insider tips. Its appearance in the film “Before Sunrise” also brought it international recognition.

The clientele is relaxed and unpretentious, giving visitors an authentic glimpse into everyday Viennese café life. Although the interior was designed by architect Hermann Czech in 1970, the atmosphere feels timeless and reminiscent of old Vienna.

Despite its compact size, Kleines Café is exceptionally cosy. The atmosphere is intimate without feeling intrusive, and visitors quickly feel at home. On sunny days, the outdoor seating on Franziskanerplatz offers a particularly pleasant place to enjoy coffee in the heart of the city.
