Café Prückel

Café Prückel is one of the great institutions of Vienna’s traditional coffeehouse scene. Located on Stubenring, it offers an authentic experience of Viennese café culture in a magnificent late-19th-century building. The café was originally opened as Café Lurion by former European cycling champion Maxime Lurion.

Already impressive in its original design, the café was redesigned after the Second World War by Viennese architect Oswald Haerdtl. The distinctive historic interior, including the decorative ceiling in the rear section, contributes to Prückel’s unmistakable character.

Thanks to its location close to the MAK, the University of Applied Arts Vienna and the city’s gallery district, Café Prückel has long attracted artists and art lovers. The café itself also hosts concerts and literary events, making it an important meeting place in Vienna’s cultural life.
