Kongressbad on Julius-Meinl-Gasse in Vienna’s 16th district is affectionately known by locals as the “Kongerl”. It is easy to reach by public transport and is only a short walk from Hernals station.
The outdoor pool was built in 1928 together with Kongresspark, based on plans by Erich Franz Leischner. With its original 100-metre pool, Kongressbad was once the largest and most modern artificial outdoor swimming pool in Vienna.
Today, the charming complex with its red-and-white wooden buildings offers a wide range of facilities. In addition to a sports pool, there is a 64-metre adventure pool with features such as bubbling floor jets, whirlpool loungers and a current channel.
There is also a children’s pool with a water slide and plenty of space for sunbathing.
Outside the water, visitors can enjoy volleyball, giant chess, football, ball games and a fitness course. Younger guests also have their own playground.
A restaurant with buffet service provides refreshments during a day at the pool.
