The Haus des Meeres in Vienna’s 6th municipal district, near Mariahilfer Straße, is Vienna’s so-called Aqua Terra Zoo. More than 10,000 animals live here below and above the water. Whether silvery shimmering fish from local waters or brightly iridescent exotics from tropical regions, here you encounter animals from all over the world.
The little common marmosets in particular take children’s hearts by storm. Alongside them there are many more amphibians and reptiles.
Another highlight is the marine section on the 3rd floor. Here 14 interconnected aquariums await you, holding up to 25,000 litres of water. This provides enough space for coral reefs, venomous fish, moray eels and mantis shrimps side by side.
The terrariums of the crocodiles and giant snakes or lizards are particularly impressive. But you can even come face to face with sharks, piranhas and sea turtles here.
Whether Atlantic tunnel or Mediterranean aquarium, the choice knows almost no limits. This house is an experience for the whole family!
