The Augarten itself, too, is worth a visit as a 52.2-hectare park in the French style. This park in Vienna’s Leopoldstadt contains the oldest Baroque garden complex in Vienna.

The Augarten palace and garden complex date from the early 17th century and were largely destroyed during the 2nd Turkish siege of Vienna.

It was only under Joseph I that the complex was restored in 1708. Then, in 1775, the grounds were made accessible to the general public.
