DSCHUNGEL WIEN
Dschungel Wien is a theatre house for children and young people. In this theatre in the MuseumsQuartier, young theatre fans can get to know the entire spectrum of the performing arts. From the age of 2, children are given a programme specially tailored to them here. But productions for the whole family can also be seen here. Afterwards, the Dschungel Wien café offers all kinds of treats!
KABARETT NIEDERMAIR
Alongside the well-known cabaret scene, at Kabarett Niedermair you will also find performances for a young audience. For children there are productions of Astrid Lindgren children’s books. Well-known children’s theatre groups such as Marko Simsa, Pipifax or Schneck und Co are also guests here.
WIENER KASPERLTHEATER
Kasperl, Pezi, the grandmother, the gendarme, the crocodile – for 250 years these beloved hand-puppet characters have been a fixed part of the lives of many generations of children in Vienna. And they are all still here! “Are you all there?” calls the mischievous Kasperl in the original Wiener Praterkasperl at Wurstelplatz. And that every Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday and public holiday. But the exciting adventures of Kasperl & Co are also played daily at the Vienna Urania Puppet Theatre.
At the Figurentheater Lilarum there are further clever variations of the Viennese puppet theatre for children from 3 to 10 years. The main programme consists of 25 in-house productions, but international puppeteers are also guests here!
MARIONETTENTHEATER SCHÖNBRUNN
Precious marionettes with imperial flair can be seen at the Marionette Theatre of Schönbrunn. A theatre visit to this marionette theatre is an experience for the whole family. Because the marionettes are supported not only by the most modern technology and the finest dexterity. The programme, too, is of the highest calibre and geared towards children’s operas.
THEATER DER JUGEND
At the Theater der Jugend in the Renaissancetheater in Neubaugasse, there is a wide range of spoken-word theatre at the top European level! Founded in 1932, the theatre is regarded across Europe as the largest theatre for a young audience. As such, it offers performances of well-known thrillers by Hitchcock and Co, or also children’s classics by Kästner and Nöstlinger.
SARGFABRIK
As a culture house, the Sargfabrik offers a special programme for children every Wednesday! Because then well-known children’s theatre groups give their best here. Here the little spectators can simply let themselves be enchanted!
CHILDREN’S MUSICALS BY THEATER HEUSCHRECK
The legendary Viennese jazz venue “Porgy & Bess” in Vienna’s city centre shows itself in a completely new light for the little ones! Because Theater Heuschreck brings its fascinating, self-written children’s musicals to the jazz club in all their splendour of colour. The themes usually have a topical relevance and are presented at the highest level – for the youngest musical fans!
